Re: tea tree
Awesome fish cheater. We launched patto 3am yesterday to beat the crowds. Got 3 fish around sunrise. About 11 we moved to westernport. We've sat out tides both deep and we also sat out the whole night in 7m hoping for a big one. Baits were 6 hour old squid when we started. Well it's safe to say tea ...

Re: squid jig's
I generally take 24 fishing. Mainly cos I have 2 jig cases that hold 12 each.
If you buy that many you may aswell get them online for half the price. My jigs cost me $7-14 each with the majority <$10 shimano, yamashita, daiwa, haramitsu

Re: best knot to tie for dropper
Centauri knot works for me. Failing that a granny knot. It's only a sinker dropper. The knots don't have to be perfect. After all you want it to break off if you snag up

Re: mako sharks
I wouldn't suggest mako fishing for a bucks day. Too much ****, too much swell. It'll make the non fisherman sick as dogs and its actually quite a bit of work keeping a good trail going. You'd be better off going on a gummy charter etc
Re: tea tree
Don't mess with it. It works. And I get a day off work. Haha. I've got 63 minutes of work left before I enjoy 6 days off (with a few cashies thrown in)
Re: tea tree
Any size to the mornington squid or the usual tiddlers mate? The two I've got we're around the 700gm size so enough to get a dozen baits out of each. I was hoping to have at least half a dozen though. Go through a lot of baits in 30 hours fishing. Haha I can't get out again before tomorrow morning. ...

Re: Spool with braid - tape or mono backing?
Why don't you buy shallow spool reels rixter? That's why I know have a couple 2506's and a 2004. 120-150m of correctly sized braid fills it. No need for a tape job. You're essentially making a shallow spool anyway.
Re: tea tree
Comp starts at 5am Friday. I'm getting on the water 3am Friday. Fishing port Phillip early to get on the board. Then moving to western port to sit shallow and wait for that big one if it decides to come along. We will probably come in around 8-9am Saturday. I've had a couple of sessions down south p...

Re: Spool with braid - tape or mono backing?
I'm assuming that your not planning on uaing a 2500 with lb line on fish that might rip a couple of hundred meters of line off you. I'm also assuming that using braid alone (either with tape or a couple of meters of mono) that 2500 spool would probably hold several hundred meteres of 6lb braid. Why...

The drift chutes are worth their weight in gold if you plan on fishing on the drift.
