Best line and leader for carp?

Hi All,

Keen to do some carp fishing, never had much luck only caught 1 with a mate. What would be the best line set up for carp fishing? Not targeting monsters but would a 6lb line and leader suffice or is it worth buying heavier gear for carping?

Cheers,
Blake

Re: lakewood lake, Knoxfield

went there today... caught 1 redfin and dropped another. pretty sure it was the same one. if you walk around to right side (in front of the construction site) of lake there is a part of the bank cleared and i fished from there. spent about 2hours there on berkley powerbait grub in pumpkinseed.
