Re: Upper Coliban Reservoir Report
I've got my eyes on the Campaspe, Coliban, Deep Creek and Jacksons Creek but have yet to fish any of them. The Campaspe seems the most likely to my naked eye and looks relatively easy to access, wouldn't mind floating a few worms around there and seeing what strikes. The Campaspe was ok, used to fi...

Re: Upper Coliban Reservoir Report
Was thinking of hitting up Lauriston after but was too lazy. Was wondering if anyone else fishes the water storages around Kyneton? I've been catching plenty of reddies but curious to know if anyone is taking anything else. I am from Kyneton, grew up on a sheep farm out of town. I used to fish the ...

Re: Squid Size/Numbers
Looks like they were just after active jigs, aka needs to be moving. also try leaving a sleeper jig in the rod holder and letting it move around with the boat movement. as for sizes a size 3 jig is a good start. go 3.5 if the squid are bigger. Yep, I was using 3 and 3.5. I think I was getting them ...

Re: Squid Size/Numbers
I think I might have brought some in with the jig, then they were going for the baits, as they were following and tentatively going for the jig and getting pricked. Sure is fun sight fishing them! Managed to catch some on regular baited hooks with the aid of the landing net too, which was a bonus. I...

Re: Squid Size/Numbers
In Western port weight of the jig is a factor, they need to be heavier to get down, so larger jigs tend to have more weight in them. If caught a squid, then try to drift over the same spot a few times, as squid do school up. U can get weights for jigs to help get them down in current Thanks for tha...

Squid Size/Numbers
Hi, I've been doing a little squid chasing lately in the shallow weed banks when the tide has been running too quickly for productive bottom bashing in the channels of Westernport. I have been catching a couple of squid each time. But I haven't been catching a lot. What I have been catching have all...

Re: Hi fish ID please
I cant understand how so many people can see so much detail and assume so much from 1 line and 1 photo. The photo looks like its from a pier, fish is blury(ish) in the photo...makes me think its still alive and went back. Where did he say he killed it? The dorsal fin has flattened which is usually ...

Re: Fresh fish prices
Its much easier to justify hunting than fishing on a cost basis in my experience. No change out of $1000 after servicing the boat and updating some fishing tackle, then after buying a ramp pass, some bait & fuel to get to ramp, all I have to bring home from the first fishing trip of the season is a...
