Sorry if this is a dumb question but I have never ever owned or been in a kayak. Is it possible or practical for a kayaker to wear a safety tether attached to themselves and the kayak to avoid being seperated from their craft in the event of a capsize or roll-over?

Re: Mudeye Distractions
Usually I just drag a small fine mesh net through the weeds. A cheap $2.00 kids net from the $2.00 shop is fine. If there's any logs in the water just lift the logs out and check to see if any mudeye are hiding on them. Put the logs back when you're done.

Mudeye Distractions
I popped out yesterday afternoon to try and get a few mudeyes for trout bait. I went to a small pond where I normally manage to get a few. The pond isn't much more than about 8 mtrs in diameter and only about 1 mtr deep. I soon got distracted by trying to photograph some fish hiding in the weeds. On...

Re: First Tench Of The Spring
G'Day Tinca, Good to see I'm not the only tench nut! That's a cracker of a fish you have. Tench over 6lbs are very uncommon and few and far between. I find that most tench in my area are in the 2 to 3lb range with an occasional bigger one here and there. The best I've managed in Oz was just over 8lb...

Re: Grayling
Thanks Truedogz, I've personally never caught one. It was good to see my sons mate catch it as he hasn't been fishing for too long and has struggled at times to catch anything (other than carp).
I've been having a read upon them and it does seem that some streams have fair numbers of them.

Grayling
One of my sons and his friend were fishing a a West Gippsland location today when my sons friend caught a fish he couldn't identify. I was quite excited to receive an email from him with a photo attached. The fish he caught was a Grayling. It's not often that they get caught. So good to see a Grayli...

Seven Years Bad Luck
Hit up a carp spot today to have some fun with the mud marlin. There was nothing doing for a while until about lunchtime when somebody must have pressed the time to start biting button. A steady stream of small carp went on the chew, a mixture of commons and mirrors. Most of the carp were showing ba...
