Re: Coral Bay WA

Cheers gents. Cobia are thick that time of the year as the whales are moving through. Had a few come within 10m of the boat for a look. About 20 odd cobia were released to cause more tangles and gear failures next year. Big Trevally are avoided where possible to save on chiropractor bills. Some pics...

Coral Bay WA

Located about 140km south of Exmouth on WA's magnificent Ningaloo Reef is a fishing Paradise called Coral Bay. Headed up with mate from Perth with 3 boats in tow. Only got out the 3 days of the week we were there as the weather was a bit average but as you can see when we did get out the fishing was...

Re: Taking Rods on a Flight

As long as you don't exceed the weight limit then size doesn't matter. You just need to put them in as oversize as the others have said. I use PVC tubes. I've had rod tubes bent before. Remember that your gear will get thrown, dropped and tossed around so pack it well. If in doubt some airlines do "...

Re: Born again angler...seeks advice on starter kit

Gippy lakes is pretty good for breamin. I'd go a 7' 1-3kg stick with a 2004 daiwa reel (or shimano 1000). 8lb braid, 4 and 6lb fc leader. A few hardbodies (bibbed minnows, błades, vibes, cranka crabs) some soft plastics (squidgy wrigglers). If you want a bit heavier general estuary combo them a 250...

Re: Flatties on the Fly

I haven't chased them here but it is common for there to be a few wand wavers playing on the flats on the Swan river (WA).
They will pretty much take anything you can get in front of thier face but weighted Clousters are common.
