High tide smash and grab.
Found myself with a free afternoon this arvo, and with the forecast being very favourable, I headed down to Gunners. As it approached high tide, I got a few tell tale smacks on the lure, next cast, same again. Following cast, I slowed it right down, and bang, hook up. Not a big fish, 7-800 grams, bu...

Re: 2020 Snapper Season
How was ur 2019 Snappe season Matt ? Had a shocker last year, only got a couple. Will be interesting season this year, I reckon you'll see a lot more people fishing solo, no charters and they'll probably end up closing all the piers. Might even have to try soft plastics if supply of bait becomes an...

Re: Quick Salmon bash.
Another session at the local yesterday. Tried in the morrning for zip, went back in the arvo, and right near dusk, got one up near the far end. 30 mins later, and in the last of the light, got another. The second was down deep, i deliberately let the lure sink to the bottom, then cranked it back slo...

Re: Quick Salmon bash.
Nice! Do you fish the far end to get away from the crowds? Pretty much. Too many bait fishos, too many surfers in the first couple of hundred metres. Once you get past that lot, just cast and retrieve as you walk until you find the fish. Notable that yet again, the fish weren't sitting in a rip, or...

Quick Salmon bash.
Decided quite late in the day to hit the sand for a quick spin. Right on the stroke of high tide, found them up the far end of the beach. As per normal, small 45 gram busted lure doing the damage.

Re: To fish amongst kings.
Well written Doug. I had a ball as normal, and it really was magic seeing Cam get his first Kingy. You can see on the vid, if you watch the rod tip, the fish had buried itself in the kelp, and Cam did a great job just easing it up and out without panicking. All in all, a great trip, not so much in t...

Re: Phillip Island for 4 days - Advice on gummies
Maybe have a wander into Cleeland bite for some squid, and maybe think about the Corals for a gummy. 9mtrs has always done the trick for us. Tons of good ground around that North Eastern area of Phillip island.
