Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Finally caught my first Carp from the Yarra (11/3/23) - 43rd time lucky! I actually hit up the one spot I know of in the Diamond Creek , but that wasn't producing, so I went for a ride instead. I followed the Diamond Creek trail all the way to Hurstbridge and back, stopping for some subway in Diamon...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

I've fished, walked and ridden my bike along the Yarra on and off for most of my life and can't say I've ever seen a snake swimming in it. I've read that they're capable but to see it in a photo like this gives me the shivers... Not only that, but he seemed very capable of swimming under the water ...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

I've been hitting up the Yarra lately trying to get my first Carp from that water system. I've been parking at Westerfolds Park and been going for a ride from there. I think I've found the spot: corn cans everywhere, carp scales on the bank and rod holders made of wood where people have obviously be...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Just the one from today. Got him on a float. A little bit bigger than the 'standard' size lately. Got a silver perch as well, they seem to be holding up alright in the river.

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Just the two again today. Both taken on float. The Carp are still there, but they seem to have slowed down a bit.

Just the two from yesterday. Had plenty of bites, just couldn't hook up.

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed back out to the 'honey hole' today. I seem to be good for 4-8 each session (I have the week off work, so why not). They seem to come on the bite really suddenly in short bursts, then disappear just as quick. Paternoster and a float set-up is doing the damage. +7 2022/23: 53 (2026) Izzak Walto...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed out to the Wimmera River today after driving up from Melbourne. Conditions were perfect; nice and hot, so I was expecting a semi-decent haul. The river hasn't quite returned to the 'halcyon days' from when I was a kid; instantaneous bites, fish in the double-digits, and a multitude of species...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Just got the one today. Tried the weir in Horsham, which I've only been to once before. Got a couple of very faint bites, but nothing came of it. Swung past 'the usual spot' at Taylors on the way home and got this bad boy. Got him almost straight away, so I thought I might have been in for another d...
