Re: Offshore Barwon and Torquay

4litres yes wire trace, so do you use just 1 hook with wire trace ?
I always use a snelled pair with mono coz I'm mainly using whole squid or pillies.
Anyway, from memory I was in about 24m off Barwon and 32 off Torquay.

Thanks Lightningx

Cheers fellas

Re: Offshore Barwon and Torquay

They are amazing creatures, that was my first one I've ever caught. In hindsight ( after cleaning this one) I think they don't really give much meat for the size of them. Next time I'll return it. There was about 8 odd cars when I launched, and about 15 when I retrieved. One tough nut on a jet ski w...

Offshore Barwon and Torquay

Had an RDO today so up at 3:30, left home at 4:00 arrived at queenscliff ramp and launched by 6:45. Unfortunately the canvas top on my ttop didn’t like the ride to queenscliff, I think a couple of the ties broke off and the rear end of the canvass was in shreds. Anyway it was a cold but beautiful mo...

Re: Weather.

Yep, I’ve got an RDO booked for this Thursday.
Had it booked in since I saw the forecast last week.
I want to try Barwon offshore, search for a reef or two and see what’s lurking around.

Re: DIY Oh yeah

Thanks greggo, so I’ll ask the obvious being new to this.
Apart from whatever “special” epoxy that a tackle store sells, what epoxy is suitable?

Re: DIY Oh yeah

Yeah I had a good close look and couldn’t see the threads, also the bottom edge is a bit wavy - unlike a thread wound end if you know what I mean.
Ha ha. That would be easier if I just heat shrink them in place and glue them up. I guess it wouldn’t be so strong though.

Re: DIY Oh yeah

My eyesight isn’t as good as it used to be, but do big manufacturers use heat shrink now instead of thread ? I got a couple of these rods and just noticed it now - while I’m in Guide replacement mode. I was looking at my rods I’ve got another old rod that has 2 guides with the plastic inner missing ...

Re: DIY Oh yeah

Thanks smile, I used a dot of supa glue to hold one of the guide feet in place while I wrap it up. Then I just used 5 minute araldyte to bulk it all up at the end, which took about 15 minutes to touch dry in this cold. I always mean to grab some small brushes for this sort of task but never do. I al...
