Re: CBD Breaming
Yes, I noticed the seal tonight too. I managed to get a few seconds of video of him this time, too!

Re: Lost outfit Port Melbourne
Was the line out in the water when it went in? If you can cast over the line, you're in with a shot ... albeit a long one. Hope you have some luck!

Re: easter monday...doughnuts..
Doughnuts for me too. I tried for an early season mulloway upstream on the Yarra - not a touch ... but I was accompanied by a seal for a short time. They sometimes come in to the Docklands early in the morning, but t was odd seeing one so far up river today.

Re: Well Easter is here - who's getting out over the next 4 days
Yes, that sounds all too familiar. The first run is pretty unstoppable - that's why I don't bother with braid (even 50b). I fish 25b game test mono with 40b hard mono leader and 3 or 4/0 circle hooks. If the fish gets to a pylon with braid, it's all over, regardless of breaking strain - in fact, it'...

Not sure yet - the last few weeks I have been drawing a blank. I might actually try the middle reaches of the Maribyrnong somewhere (thinking Essendon area), and if that fails, somewhere from CBD down - mind you, if we get a hook up, the chances of landing a decent fish in that area are not great.

Landbased Melbourne Doughnuts
Another afternoon / evening tonight for a couple of bites and zero fish. I've caught one decent fish in a month - it's a real struggle with my usual techniques and spots right now. Are other landbased anglers finding the same (particularly in the Yarra) or am I just having a bad run? And to make mat...

Re: What you can see and catch Fishing.
I've seen pods of pilot whales just off the beach at Pt. Ricardo and a large shark, fin out of the water, cruising just behind a seal for hundreds of metres at Frenches Narrows beach at Marlo. My brother and I were able to literally walk along side it, watching them eye each other off at a distance ...

Re: The Victorian trifecta!
Awesome stuff! And yes, I've caught pinkies at Marlo before - either at Pt. Ricardo on pilchard or Frenches on a soft plastic. They're not common, though! Apparently you can catch snapper off the rocks at Cape Conran, too, but I've always found the swarms of rock pool mosquitoes too off putting to t...
