Re: Birdsland reserve tacoma

I've fished it with lures a few years back for naught. I've also seen people fishing there with course outfits and I was told by a dog walker they even have a fishing comp there! For some reason I thought there were trout in there but I can think why I thought that now. If it's like the other retard...

Re: Aluminium corrosion.

Ok I did some more research on trilux 33. I could find no mention of copper in The datasheet (only "biocide"). But then I did find a mention of it here http://www.yachtpaintforum.com/trilux-33-aluminum-compatability_topic436.html. It sounds like an official source and appears it does contain copper ...

Re: Aluminium corrosion.

Trilux 33 is designed for aluminium boats and doesn't have any copper in it. It is meant to be applied over a primer coat but if you dont use one the at worst I would expect is that it just doesn't stick very well. I do not think this is the cause of your corrosion after only 12 months. Other than b...

Re: Aluminium corrosion.

Oh man, if you used a copper based paint you effectively turned your hull into a battery. As copper is less active than aluminium your hull became the anode. If it's only light corrosion (I highly doubt it) then you can just sand and paint. If it's more serious then I'd guess you're up for a new hul...

Re: Seajay vs Quintrex vs Stacer??

I hate to throw this into your already hard to choose from list but have you looked at the mcLay boats? I first saw them this year and thought they were the best of the range. They have them at Warragul marine. They seemed to be priced pretty well too. http://www.mclayboats.co.nz/ I dont have any pe...

Re: Trailer repairs

Keep your eyes on gumtree/eBay man.. Obviously you have to check the quality before buying one but I've seen pretty great looking trailers advertised for around $1000. Might take another few hundred to get it to fit up to your boat but it's still a big saving.

Re: Boat straight steering aids?

Sorry if I didn't explain it properly, I meant they aren't designed to turn if you fall out of the boat. It is a fact that they all do and it is called prop steer. It's why you have a trim tab on the cav plate In an effort counteract it. There are a few reasons for counter rotating props and I'm sur...

Re: trollbridge 24

I'm not sure if your talking about the internal combining system inside the troll bridge that shorts out (that's a big problem with the design of the unit itself if it's the case) but if you are talking about the other component in the diagrams labelled as "combiner" then any old VSR can be used in ...

Re: Boat straight steering aids?

boat steering shouldn't pull to one side but due to the rotation of the prop (or not being in good trim) then you will feel a pull and with cable type steering this can have the effect of turning the wheel when let go. My mates boat had the trim tab on pointing in the wrong direction and this also c...

Re: new boat net

Another vote for Tony's tackle here. That or Hook-em. Both are very strong. The rubber is great, I have the deep large net in rubber from hook-em. The hooks don't get all caught up in it. The rubber does make it a little heavy and I've been told its not that strong but I haven't had any problems yet...
