Re: Who are you?
Gobbleguts. Never tried using them as bait but my guess is probably not worth it because it's not a very oily fish. Edible but also not worth the effort at that size.

Re: Westernport deep water berley bucket.
Just a guess but judging by the long shape i think the spike won't do much because the tube will just topple over. You could replace the spike with something that sticks out the sides to stop it from rolling (think like what your anchor looks like)
Otherwise it looks pretty cool.

Re: Are soldierfish/cobbler edible?
I took one home to try before out of curiosity because it was gut hooked and was going to die anyway. Probably around 20cm. They taste ok, firm sweet white meat but nothing special.
Safe to handle, just trim off the spikes like you would with a gurnard.

Re: Soft Plastic compatibility
After a few more days the zman will start to melt into those plastic food containers (I had one in a Sistema box from woolies)

Re: PPB finding arches
Similar experience here but I've found a few arches recently. They have all shown up early in the morning, don't know if that makes a difference but I never sound up much in the middle of the day. You just need one solid arch. Berley after finding a mark usually brings more after anchoring. It's pre...

Re: Leather jackets, SE Melbourne anywhere?
Top end of WPB is pretty good for leatherjackets. Lots of piers around with access to patchy grass, take your pick.

Re: Spear fishing
Sea carp have a marbled pattern - very noticeable if you've seen them before. Dusky morwong sometimes have spots (the smaller ones). If its inside PPB then it's most likely a dusky morwong. The sea carp tend to stay more on the back beaches.

Are the yakkas still kicking around at morning or night down Mornington pier, he’ll probably go Sunday/ Monday, cheers. The yakkas have been very quiet this week...

Re: Mornington pier report
There's still a few yakkas and tommy roughs around, good fun on light gear but not easy to catch. Go really light, unweighted with tiny hooks. I think I talked to you on new years day. You need to stay away from those underwater green lights that everyone is using there, I don't know why people use...
