Re: Fines of $37,000 for taking Southern Bluefin tuna

From what was posted elsewhere see below they were possibly within bag limits each day but it is not completely clear. Was there 5 or 6 fisherman? Even though they were within the bag limits each day due to a technicality (fish had not be filleted) they have exceeded the possession limit. My underst...

Re: How do you rig your gear?

We use 70lb (as light) and 120lb (as heavy) snap swivel for kings top shot brand which has a great smooth swivel.

Use the same brand but larger size for marlin.

70-120lb are still tiny compared with the size of the jig.

Try both methods and see what works best for you.

Re: How do you rig your gear?

For reference snap swivels are also used used for much larger game fish ie marlin and tuna.

The standard termination of the windon leader is crimped to a snap swivel.

Paternoster works well, sinker depends on the current but anywhere from 2-4oz should suit landbased.

I use 5/0 hooks and I wouldn't use anything smaller.

Re: How do you rig your gear?

Not that I have noticed, but it might depend on what action you are trying to use.

Jigs for kings are pretty big I often use 7oz jigs.

Re: How do you rig your gear?

For smaller fish, leader tied to snap swivel using improved clinch knot then clip to jig. For larger fish with heavier leader I use a heavier snap swivel and use a crimp for the leader then clip to the jig. Snap makes changing jigs quick and easy. Braid to leader for light I use modified albright fo...

Re: Reports creating HOT spots

If I can chime in, from a newbie, In my case, I have joined a countless forums over the years, only to be unable to learn tricks of the sport/hobbie etc, because unfortunately because of a few idiots, we all get treated like we are just here to steal someones spot, or ruin a secret spot. I have tri...

Re: Reports creating HOT spots

Pics from catches years ago reused are common.

I haven't taken pics of fish on the boat for years. Wet fingers plus touch screen doesn't work.

The only pics I have were taken by mates. Or of dead fish back on land.

False reports with great pics and story is exceptionally common.

Beware magazine style reports with glossy pics on forums and facebook.

Re: what is the best money for product for off shore game bo

Go with what you need now and sell it later on if you start running charters.

Also worth looking at cats if you are not going to spend a lot of time trolling.

Awesome ride and stability.
