Re: Acheron River 10/1

....Didn't get up there until nearly 11am,.... so not ideal timing. That is how I operate! I enjoy fishing and don't like ruining the day by having to get up early! Fishing rivers like that is enjoyable itself. A fish is a bonus! So you missed your bonus, no big deal. Jim I don't necessarily disagr...

Acheron River 10/1

Headed up to the Acheron River with a mate who's never fished before. Didn't get up there until nearly 11am, so not ideal timing. We hit the stretch on the downstream side of the Glendale Road bridge near Buxton. First little run we arrived at i saw telltale still wet footprints of someone who had c...

Re: melb - fraser island

Since i was 6 i remember pumping yabbies from the sand flats near the harbor and catching a whiting pretty much every cast. My first spin fishing experience was standing knee deep catching flathead on home made lur...

Re: lake hume

Big thanks to everyone who helped me out. Final tally was 16 redfin and one really nice trout. Have some pics. First cast first day smashed a redfin just accross from someone who'd been bait fishing for 3 hours and caught nothing. http://i.imgur.com/HdQtp.jpg These things are so murderous they take ...

Nice mate! i've always found blue on gold spinners and small rapalas' for the rubicon and acheron work best!

Can someone explain to me what constitutes good water temperature and how hot it needs to be to not be worth trying at all?

Re: Murray under Hume.

Thanks Jim! I've only ever caught trout on small celta spinners or rapala's in tiny brown or rainbow patterns. I much prefer the spinners even though they might not be quite as effective because it's far less painful losing a $4 celta than a $22 rapala. Wading i'm back in Melbourne now but how does ...
