Re: Boat lighting ideas for a new hardtop boat...
I have only ever hit one seal. That was on the coast guard jetski. I was gunning it to get in front of a wave that was about to break and a seal popped up a couple of meters in front of me. There was a loud clunk and the seal took off. It seemed ok, but I bet it had a headache. On the radar thing, t...

Re: Boat lighting ideas for a new hardtop boat...
Regardless of the type of light, where it is mounted is the most important thing. If you get any reflection on the deck you will not see anything. On the coast guard boat our remote control spotlights on the roof are useless to see ahead as they light up the deck. We only use them to look to the sid...

The Pinkies just keep giving.
Another great bit of weather, so I decided to have a late start, 10.30am, to let the day warm up a bit. Headed out to the 4mile south corner. Just rubbish fish there. So after half an hour I headed to the 6 mile. Noticed a nice looking bit of bottom with some fish on it on the northern side. I dropp...
Re: Rabbit
Yes it is me. It isn't the coast guard jet ski, it is one of the Gippsland ports jet ski's. We do the channel surveys on them. Coast guard Marlo and Coast Guard Lakes have jet skis set up for rescues. I am a skipper for Lakes coast guard
Re: Rabbit
Sometimes us "wankers" get out and survey the channels , to help you navigate without stuffing up. I often get abused while doing this job. Mostly when I stop and ask people to remove their fishing lines while I survey near them... Other times we help out when you do stuff up: Extract from recent In...

Re: Pinkies pinkies and more pinkies.
Two more trips since I last reported. Both times I fished just 4nm from the bar. 9 pinkies in an hour first go and 6 in an hour the other. Coota seem to have gone, plenty of rubbish fish making it hard to keep a bait on. Fish vary from undersize to 40cm most in the mid 30's range. Only small numbers...

Re: Reels continue to peel this tuna season
My argument to the expensive fish debate is: If I played golf I would come home with nothing to eat every time.

Re: Pinkies pinkies and more pinkies.
Last year I was still catching them in August. Some days they are good some days slow. Early morning or late afternoon seems to be the best
