Re: Australian Fly Casting Championships
Thanks mazman, from what we know so far I am the youngest to ever win it. Great to see John Rumpf (a very accomplished caster and fisherman who has competed in world events many years ago) back near the top and winning the DHD. Dry (50 points being a perfect score), ICF (100 being a perfect score) a...

Re: Long weekend destination help
The Gelibrand river has a camping ground but i haven't fish the river but it sounds ok from what i have heard. If you do end up at the Aire and find a camping spot but the river is really crowded head up to where the highway crosses the Aire, park at the side of the bridge, jump the fence and fish b...

Did you see the two guys fly casting bigwatkins? The one with the long hair was me. If you were the person I think you are you were fishing at the start of the path. Try where you see the really shallow water further down the path and cast past the shallows. you wont be catching many trout at this t...

Re: Long weekend destination help
The Aire is a great spot but it could get a little crowded there unless people don't want to brave the cold. there are a few rivers further down the great ocean road that might be worth a look at if the Aire is to crowded.
Hope this helps.

I know a friend who caught his first bream on fly near the race course to that would be worth a go.

Re: yarrambat park lake?
Yeah as aussie-fisho said best to fish for trout there at start of school holidays because they stock it just before them. You will almost immediately see cormorants there after they stock it and you have to catch the fish before they do!! Im down there a lot practising casting at the pool and have ...

Re: Apollo Bay Harbour
Good to hear you at least caught something. if you get yourself some prawn bait and fish between the boats there are a lot of leather jacket to be caught and casting out further into the the harbour some nice grass whiting. You can also fish off the boat ramp floating jetty which is a good place for...

Re: Wader Question
I own a pair of simms g3(goretex) waders and they are the best thing since sliced bread! Sure they cos a bit more than pvc and neoprene but the comfort factor is unrivalled imo. They are stockingfoot waders so you do need to buy boots separately but definetly worth it if you use them a bit. I haven...
