Re: gummy shark combo?
I fish deep water westernport generally. I run 40lb braid. 4m 40lb shock leader tied to the braid with an FG knot. With an ezy rig and decent ball bearing swivel. Then ~1800mm of 80lb mono tied to 8/0 gama circle with a glow bead and glow in the dark line protector thing (designed to go over sampo s...

Re: Looking for a new combo
Budget of $450 max is blown out by a $320 nitro rod. by the time you spool it with frog braid it allows enough money for a sienna. To stay under $450 I suggest, Caldia 2004 ($215 delivered) spooled with toray seabass power game pe0.6 ($58 delivered) $273 total leaving $177 for the rod 13Fishing Omen...

Re: Show us your purchases!
Just picked up a dozen 40gm gillies slugs in white and blue. $4.40 at BCF. Not a big fan of the chain but had to spend a voucher. There's only 3 40gm slugs left at braeside but plenty of other sizes. Bring on winter sambos.

Re: few quick tinny mod ideas
Nah the boat is getting the arse. It's simply too small. Ill keep all the gear in the shed because its the whole kit you need for a small boat. Ill probably end up with a new 4m tinny or something along those lines. The 3m tinny wants to capsize everytime you move. And it can't be used solo due to w...

Re: few quick tinny mod ideas
Cheers slotzz. I ended up spending $320 getting 2 new seats and mounts, 2 yoke life jackets, and the rod holders I mentioned.
All for the motor to **** itself after 90 seconds and we fished off the pier instead. Haha

Re: Hooks
I find the kl's go way too rusty. Breath a bit of salt air on them and the packet rusts up. I also don't like the square profile. Don't know why I don't but I just don't like it lol. Fair enough fishsamfish. Have heard recently of gamas breaking. I think they've fallen victim to Chinese fakes. Or th...

Re: Hooks
Fishsamfish. Why the move to stainless? Most hooks are high carbon these days so they can rust out quicker in released fish.
Also interested in why you never use gamakatsu hooks? I've virtually used nothing but with the exception of black magic kl's which I don't really like.

Re: Christmas Presents fishing or other
Stradic ci4+ 4000 that I paid 2/3rd of and my Kris Kringle paid the rest. And a $50 bcf voucher from another family Kris Kringle.
Ill probably drop the $50 at bcf on a heap of gillies slugs for surf spinning for when my new rod is finished getting built.
