I thought they had the investigation and found that removing to much vegetation over a large area of river was the cause ?

The willow removing saga replacing them with native trees that were too slow growing? left the fish exposed ?

did I dream it ?

That's ugly Hornet :lol: I have a picture somewhere taken in the days before digital photos, I'll look for it and scan it to post here if I can find it the squid is about 3 foot long and the hood is about 40 + cm long, it snapped a wooden squid jag with it's beak I caught it off Queenscliff many ye...

Back in the day when the huge schools of couta would visit the old wooden Lorne pier you could catch them all day long on Halco or pilchard lures till your arms felt like they would fall off... looking into the water you would see up to half a dozen couta fighting to get in front of each other to ge...

There are some huge rays around nards ! lol

I've hooked and played some for an hour or more with 50lb braid on a broom stick for a surf rod and got no where ...

I always end up losing the huge ones, or give up because of cramps..

At times of the year the place gets ambushed by snotty nose trevala in huge schools

a fixed length of line with bait sent directly straight down off the edge of the pier is the go..
