Trout are pretty aggressive fish and small fish are easier to fool. Would be worth trying some celtas or hardbodies such as rapalas. The upper Latrobe river and Toorongo both hold trout. You did well! Next time try down Stocks Rd and go upstream from there. I got busted off years ago by a huge trout I hooked on a Craigs Nighttime fly after dark. There are big ones there but they are nocturnal. Using worms you'll mainly get blackfish. Crickets are the go.

I have a fair bit to do with Glen Cromie through work. Last time I was there there were trout swimming in the river in the middle of the park, but I'd go upstream if I wanted to catch one. Mate, I live nearby at Warragul although I've never fished the Bunyip. I remember my Grandfather used to chase blackfish there and they were massive! Love your outfit! I reckon both my Dad and Grandfather had those Mitchell's, how I wish I had have got one. Is that a split cane rod?
