Re: Shimano Jewel
Pair it with a 5k reel. Not cos you need the line capacity. But to just help with the retrieve speed.

Re: Shimano Jewel
They used to be called tcurve revolution offshore and inshores and they were great rods. I've got a 904 travel one. Does the job nicely. I don't know if they've changed out the components. Cobby probably does.

Re: Shimano Jewel
$229 seems like big overs for a jewel? Surely you can get into a tcurve for less than that? (I think they've rebranded tcurves since parting ways with Ian miller?) now just called a revo?

Re: Tackleworld
Went today and grabbed a few bits of terminal tackle. Had a look at rods as I've been asked to help my sister get an outfit for her 8yo for $50. Was really surprised to see there was next to nothing in this range. Admittedly it's been a while since I'd looked but I legit couldn't find anything that ...
Re: Hooks
Yeah cheers gents. Reminds me I think I got a bunch of those mustad big reds years ago when big w or Kmart was clearing out the good stuff. I'll need to dig them out. From memory some of the hook points were rubbish on them. Probably far more cost effective to just touch up the points On 20-30 hooks...
Hooks
G'day guys. Slowly but surely getting everything properly organised on the boat. I've decided to have a crack at species specific tackle trays. By that I mean a 3500 tray dedicated to the likes of ting/flatties/bait collection. Kl1/0 and mustad long shanks. All the swivels and beads. Plus a spool of...

Re: Looking at purchasing my first boat
One thing to add. For longevity of the hull you buy get one with wide gunnels. Not the type that's essentially a capped off sheet. Wide gunnels give you somewhere to sit. Lean. Mount stuff to etc. i could see you upgrading solely to get that down the track. Lots of fishing can be done out of a tille...

Re: Looking at purchasing my first boat
I was in your shoes once, looking at the same style boat with a similar price range and decided to go a little extra money on something that I could upgrade further when funds allowed. Here's the type of boat I'm assuming you're looking to get into. (Tiller though) https://www.boatsales.com.au/boats...
