If you want the best of both - use z mans & try cutting the a bit off each side of the paddle tail. You can also place 2 smaller cuts in front of the tail, It’ll give you some more action in tail.

I learnt to fly fish with a similar outfit a few years back. Just need to be careful with the back cast and how the rods loads up.
