Mullet aren't bad on the fang. They're quite oily, but if you cook them with plenty of flavour added (my favourite is harissa paste) they're fine. I always bake them whole so bones aren't too big an issue but they're far from the boniest fish anyway.

We crossed Bass Strait in December in couple of meter swell and 30 knot winds, luckily it was behind us or quartering us and we were hooting along. It was great fun, but I guess that's the difference between a 42 foot racing cruiser (yacht) and a half cab trailer boat.

The Sedona is a better reel, just the next step up from the Sienna, but the 2500 size you will be able to catch anything in the bay, might need to play the bigger fish but you'll catch them. I'm not at all familiar with the rods though.

There's no sea snakes in the tarwin river. There are the odd report of yellow bellied sea snakes getting down into victorian waters, but generally only when warm sea currents let them , but then they generally die and wash up when the colder currents get through. You might have even been seeing gars...

ford holden mate, never noticed the difference much between the 2, i've got a couple of mixed breed rod/reel setups because like ou say, what i could afford at the time.
