my last comment on this topic i agree with ango except that i used to hose my reels okuma recommends misting with fresh water as hosing forces the salt water into the reel

you can wrap the leader twice around the front grip hold with your thumb that way you don't need a trigger finger cast all day that way

there 3 ways to maintain gear clean it repair it and maintenance i would think you need to read the insert from okuma before you show your lack of knowledge F.C

when it comes to cleaning just mist the reels with a spray bottle with fresh water and light spray of wd40 don't hose them or dunk them in a bucket

the rod and reel must feel balanced in you hand that is hold the rod just in front the reel and the out fit should balance it self in your hand hence the term balance outfit

just looked up your rod a 4000 will be big enough you need to check from where you bought if the rod is designed for overhead or threadline reel . overhead rodshave more guides and are place along the rods backbone

as you are just starting off with surf fishing i would get a threadline reel like okuma eclipse ez 65 they are made for salt water use cory
