Re: Cornacarpio & Co.'s Callop & Cod Catching Caper

Headed out to Taylor's Lake again yesterday - this time with yabbies in tow. The weather was great - hot and hardly a breath of wind - the lake was like glass. Unfortunately, unlike yesterday, the fishing was a little slow. I wasn't even getting bites on my 'carp rod'. After what must have been a co...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

After having a horrid time trying to catch a carp in suburbia last week, I headed to the western part of the state - more specifically Taylor's Lake (near Horsham) with my Dad to slay a few carp! Conditions were perfect, with the sun out and more importantly, hardly a breath of wind all day. Unfortu...

Nice report and pics.

I've been thinking of returning to Cherry Lake sometime this summer...this report may just inspire me...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed out in the heat today to try and slay some Carp. I didn't have to wait long before I spotted a large school and one of them readily accepted my offering of homebrand bread. This was unlike when I headed out yesterday, and any Carp I spotted were unresponsive to my immaculately presented bait....

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Well I'm back in the urban jungle and went down the creek to catch a Carp I did! While I was there a shag was doing the rounds. Eventually it bobbed up and had something in its mouth. I assumed it was a small carp, but on closer inspection, it was a reasonable sized yabby! The shag actually had a bi...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Top notch cc! I liked the style of those old school pocket guides to waters. I've just located the third edition of Fishing Wimmera Waters , published in 1997, and there is a lot more mention of Carp than the first edition, particularly around the Wimmera River and Taylor's Lake. Good for Carp enth...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed to Rocklands Reservoir for the very first time today, which Wikipedia describes as "one of the premier carp fishing destinations". With expectations well and truly set (high), I set of with the mate I went fishing with yesterday to slay some Carp. We set off in the late afternoon (a...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed out to where it all began for me - the mighty Wimmera River. Got off to a great start - hooked into one virtually straight away (around 10 minutes) as did the mate I was with. A bit like another waterway I regularly fish - the Carp were everywhere, but a little gun-shy. We walked the parched ...

Re: Cornacarpio & Co.'s Callop & Cod Catching Caper

Well, its that time of the year again when the now traditional father/son fish-off occurs at Taylor's Lake. It was a little bit quiet - not even the Carp were biting this year for us, although the mob next to us didn't seem to have any trouble catching various species (Cod, carp, redfin and silver p...
