Re: Crater lakes

By "water temp" yes I'm referring to the reading of the surface temp from my sounder. The temp would definitely be colder further down the water column. I reckon though that it's not necessarily a matter of the higher temps providing more comfortable conditions for the fish, but more so a ...

Crater lakes

Hi folks, Too much work and not enough fishing is a bad mix, so I decided to spend an extended w/e hitting up the crater lakes (bullen merri and purrumbete), for some "trolling therapy". Fair to say the fishing was tough! I tried quite a few tricks from flatlining to downrigging down to 90...

Re: First Reds of the season including my PB!

Great effort mate, well done! What was the water temp? It's got to be slowly creeping up by now! The first for the season is always special, but catching a PB within that same sesh is VERY special. Now you've set the bar, you'll have to catch a 7kg model next trip ;) Onya champ.

Re: Cleeland bight

If LB, squid is your best bet. Too much weed in close to bother casting a bait. A silver whiting about a metre under a float is the way. You'll have a rising tide all arvo with a high about 5pm. The last cupla hrs leading up to high tide should work for ya!

Re: The great 'monster' trout debate!

Welcome back! This is what I miss about this forum nowadays, decent topics. Although you may not be into a certain scene, you get a healthy chat going. As opposed to some of the b/s topics of late along the lines of " I got my ol' fella stuck in something it shouldn't be". Fair dinkum... B...

Re: Hi All!!!!

Good to hear from ya! It can be a dark road Jim, but great that you found a street light mate. (If you get my drift). Fishing is the best mental therapy around I reckon, whether you catch a fish or not. Make the effort and get back into it pal, especially now the weather is improving. A good dose of...

Re: This should be our new anthem..

Unfortunately this country is going to sh*t. Australia is no longer the real Australia as we knew it not too long ago. It's a very sad road this country is heading in. Too many "yes-men" in power bowing down to the minority groups and imports, because they're gutless and too afraid to upse...

Re: Good news for Lake Toolondo

Toolondo is well and truely over-rated imo. It's a shallow puddle that is not viable in our current climate, and I'm sick and tired of the banter and waste of fishing licence money going into it. Wake up!! It is one of the best trout and redfin fisheries in the state, I'm surprised you hold that op...

Re: Good news for Lake Toolondo

That's your opinion mate and you are entitled to it just posting for anyone interested in fishing there :water: Absolutely! Just my opinion, nothing personal at all mate. I do wish that times were different and Toolondo could fill and flourish like it has in time gone by, but I strongly believe tho...
