Re: ASIAN SNAKEHEAD SEIZED AND DESTROYED IN NSW

There used to be red devils, convict cichlids, and all these fancy aquarium fish in Hazelwood pondage. Still wonder if any survived after the power plant turned off.

Re: ASIAN SNAKEHEAD SEIZED AND DESTROYED IN NSW

I think it's a tropical fish, it would probably die over winter if it escaped. Still surprised you can keep a 90cm fish indoors, that has to be one massive fish tank.

Re: 2023 Snapper Season

Still there at ppb. Bagged out today on pinkies in 12m, all within 1 hour before high tide. Nothing too big, a few 40+ most mid 30s and they were hitting hard

Paid parking at Mornington

Parking from tomorrow will be $6.20 an hour at Mornington pier, max 2 hours at the carpark and 4 hours pretty much everywhere else all the way to the top of the hill. 8am to 8pm. Paid parking also starts at Flinders pier and Mt Eliza, same price. You also need a phone app to pay. No paper tickets. h...

Re: 2023 Snapper Season

Here's how I do it. Give up on targeting big snapper. Just go for the pinkies. Downsize the hooks and bait. I got my first real snapper targeting flathead with small hooks and small bait. Every single time, I catch the big snapper with the light rod while the heavy rod with the big bait gets ignored...

Re: Different ways to target pinkies

I used to catch them at Docklands pretty regularly with metal blades, using a cheap telescopic rod with mono. You can give them a try. The weight makes them a lot easier to get some decent casting distance even with cheap gear. It also catches bigger snapper

Re: Bemm river questions

Heaps of options at the Bemm, but not many land based. Most of the system is very shallow <2m but there will be fish in the shallowest of spots. It also depends if the mouth has been opened to the ocean and when it was last opened - generally fishes better after a few weeks of it opening. Check with...

Re: portland kingfish

Lee breakwall. Squid strip 2m under a float. I've never tried but there's a lot of good posts on this forum that all say this.

Re: Mornington Report

Good report mate. I fish Mornington a lot too, so far this year only pinkies for me but I've seen a few good snapper off the pier. The squid have still been quiet, probably from all the rain. Slimeys and yakkas are starting to fire up which is always fun. Occasional salmon schools have been showing ...

Not many carp there. Fisheries put some murray cod and EPs in there, but mostly trout
