Re: Later than normal start, but still a fair days fishing...

Yes I was pretty happy with that even though I don't like losing fish.. The 13 trout caught & released took my season tally to 480 which I am happy with.. Had another trip yesterday in the upper reaches of the Mersey, report to follow in a day or so.. ;-)

cheers

Re: Lake Wendouree

Well done on your catches with some nice trout being caught.. You're right about the rainbows they do take some time to recover as they stress out very quickly and can go belly up, where as the browns are a much stronger fish and have a much better survival rate.. great day on the water.....

Later than normal start, but still a fair days fishing...

Later than normal start, but still a fair days fishing. 16-2-17 It was supposed to be blowing a gale here today but when I got up there was hardly a breath of wind and I wasn't sure whether or not to go for a spin session as it was now 7:00am. Eventually I got the fishing gear on and headed of to th...

Re: Trout A Little Scarce This Trip...

It's certainly addictive that's for sure, I've been trout fishing rivers for 53 years now and still can't get enough of it... :super:

Re: Trout A Little Scarce This Trip...

Browns do fight pretty well in the rivers as do the rainbows.. I only ever fish the rivers and find that the rainbows put up the best fight of the two fish. I never fish lakes all that often (maybe once every couple of years) but have fished dams stocked with rainbows up to 15 lb and found them to f...

Re: Trout A Little Scarce This Trip...

Thanks for that, yes that brown was well worth the trip for sure and I don't mean the one one on the rocks either.. ;-) That's the first trout I've over a kilo since 6th Nov 2015, a few have been up there but not on or over the 1 kg at all.. My best brown for the season is still the 2.65 kg fish I c...

Trout A Little Scarce This Trip...

Trout a little scarce this trip. 9-2-17 With humid and overcast conditions this afternoon saw me going for a late afternoon spin on the Mersey River at Kimberley. It was around 4:30pm by the time I reached the river and started fishing in low and very clear water. I started off using a black bladed ...

Re: Two spin sessions with 40 trout caught & released.

Great pics and report as usual, got me beat how that little trout got his mouth around your lure. Thanks guys... I didn't even know that little 'bow had even taken it as there wasn't any sign of a light hit at all, it wasn't until I lifted the spinner out of the water for a recas...

Re: Two spin sessions with 40 trout caught & released.

It fought like hell, even more so when it headed into the fast water.. took around four minutes to get him into the net..
