Re: Tough introduction to trout fishing rivers..

I'm only too happy to help out with teaching and taking someone trout fishing as it's a great sport and a real challenge each and every trip one goes on. The 510 gm rainbow that I caught was in a small section of water that Aaron had already fished but he didn't work it enough and was lobbing the sp...

Tough introduction to trout fishing rivers..

I had a father & son from Adelaide get in touch with me to see if I could take them trout fishing on a river here in Tassie. It was his son's 14th birthday and young Oscar has always wanted to catch a wild trout in a river. I told them I was only too happy to take them when they come down here. ...

Thanks Truedogz, browns can be much more selective from day to day and even in different stretches of river as well.. Sometimes they'll take a copper spinner from the start then 300 meters up the river they won't have a bar of it. So with the browns one often has to keep changing lures.. As for the ...

Slow going after an early start..

Slow going after an early start. Left home for a spin session in the river in what was beautiful weather conditions this morning at 5:10am. Arrived at the river to find the it was running at a nice height for wading and there were trout on the rise, surface feeding in most sections of the river. Thi...

Re: Great start to 2017 with 29 trout caught...

One other thing I forgot to mention brybry, early season when the water is very cold the trout may be sluggist and need to be stimulated into taking a lure this is when a Silver or fluro coloured blade spinner works well..

cheers

Re: Great start to 2017 with 29 trout caught...

This trip the river was still a little dark tannin colour so I went with the #00 gold blade black fury, the copper is usually a good colour too. But seeing they were happy taking the gold blade I stayed with it.. It was overcast for the majority of the session and when the sun did break through they...
