Thats a good point, didnt think of that. might have to wet the mat prior to placing fish on it.

i guess maybe just don't leave it out to warm up between fish

problem with blavk mats is that it's gonna get hot in the sun and cook any fish you put on it

It's tough losing a lot of SP's but the upside is you're putting them into places where the fish like to hang out, (snags). A solution might be to change from conventional jig heads and rig your sp on a worm hook, (Texas rig style), where the hook point is concealed in the back of the sp. This way ...

1/0 is big for a 2inch grub. you want a size 2. your choice in jighead weight is fine, a little lighter would be nice but then you wouldn't get the cast distance. the trout like it moving anyway so it's not a big deal. bream will take a 2 inch grub no worries as will all of the species available at ...
