Now this may be a silly question but........

Over the years I have been a catch and release fishermen - bring them in, a quick photo and back they go. However after some recent good sessions on the Yarra, I have been thinking that maybe I should keep a few reddies or a trout or two for a feed. So might be a silly question - but what is the bes...

Re: Cranka crabs

I have two of them - have tried them for Bream on the Nong and Yarra - no joy yet, but the word is they work well.
I figure it is just another example of me being a bad lure fisher

float fishing

Over the years I have managed to collect a number of floats but have never used them.
As a teenager I used to fish for roach in the Plenty River, but that was the last time I used them.
So does anyone do a lot of float fishing and under what circumstances?

Yarra fishing was good tonight, fisherman was rubbish

Hit Pound Bend tonight - was all enthused to try some hard bodied lures I had.....well that lasted about half a dozen casts and they were all claimed by snags.......I am such a rubbish lure fisherman. So it was back to good, old, reliable bait - scrub and compost worms. After about 20 mins something...

Re: Complete beginner fishing the yarra

Went past the Yarra yesterday at Yerang - she is still running very high - going to take a few weeks of no rain before we see it settle back to Summer levels and being fishable again

Re: Complete beginner fishing the yarra

G'day - do you have a preferance for what sort of fish you catch and are you looking to target them with bait.
Corn kernals are great for carp, and pretty any section of water will get them.
Compost or garden worms will get you on to most other fish in that section, scrub worms are even better
