They should be called ' compression washers'. They are not clutches.

The real clutch is between the bottom of the spool and the washer on the shaft.

They can't possibly slip. They are wedged between slotted stainless washers that do not turn. There is nothing turning them and they couldnt possibly turn anyway because they are locked in by the slots. They work by compressing and thereby apply pressure between the bottom of the spool and the plast...

Oiling drag 'washers'
Can someone explain to me why people oil the washers in spin reels. They are not clutches, they do not turn against each other, they are not a moving part but a compression for the little plastic disc underneath the spool. I guess oil might keep water out or create hydraulic pressure ??

Fishing Adelaide ??
Hi I am wondering how to fish Adelaide, ideally for snapper, i know they are monsters over there.. I am going to try Glenelg Pier but if you hook a big one there how the hell do you land it?? I want to try soft plastics but that means light gear... any general Radelaide fishing advice welcomed
