Paynesville report.
Fished out of Paynesville this am, at first for whiting, I motored across to Woolaston bay, then after many moves I finished at the sandflats off Sperm Whale head. Not a bite anywhere, Carstairs, Sth of Raymond island all very quiet, so a change of target, I put away the whiting rods and got out the...

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance
I had a go this morning, I fished west of the entrance in about 20 m, I do not anchor, only drift. After a procession of gurnards and undersize flatties, and also a good workout with a skate (on slider rig) I ended up with one gummy on a paternoster rig so for sure paternoster rigs are the go, I wil...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Hard yakka today, I was on the water at 7.30 am, and fished south of Raymond island, Carstairs Bank, Woolaston Bay, result was 2 whiting, 33 & 42 cm, a couple of undersize whiting, some small bream, and the biggest toady I have ever caught, I ought to be happy with a new PB but do toadies count? I s...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
I went out yesterday and fished all my whiting spots from Wollaston bay to Sperm Whale head, 1 undersize bream was all I got. The water was pretty brown, hopefully it clears up and they fire up soon.
Cheers

Re: Stacer 469 outlaw
I have a 4.5 m tinny & take it offshore with no issues if the conditions are good, you just need a bit of common sense in deciding to go out or not, Keep a good eye on the weather reports and the current speed (Gippsland Ports website) for crossing the bar. I have taken this boat off shore from Meri...

Re: Vintage rod found in hard rubbish
A mate had one of these back in the day, it was great for gars from the piers. Good for small salmon too, we called them bay trout, and mullet & bream in the creeks.

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance
I went out to the reefs today, it was bit quiet, maybe the conditions were too good, I find the fishing goes quite if it's too calm. I ended up with 3 pinkies & 2 Mowies, all 30 to 33 cm, plus the usual throw backs, gurnards, sgt bakets barber perch etc. so at least a couple of feeds. It was a very ...

Lakes Entrance whiting?
Hi All. The latest "East Gippsland Fishing Report" for Lakes Entrance has KG whiting getting caught around the islands. I take these reports with a grain of salt but it would be good if there were whiting around at this time of the year because I would be chasing them rather than going offshore afte...

Re: GURNARD - WELL WORTH A TRY!!!
I keep a couple if I have already caught a flattie or 2 and need more to get a meal together. My enthusiasm for them has waned a bit after I got spiked, there was plenty of pain and my finger swelled up for 3 days so I prefer steer clear of them if I can, they are good tucker though.
