Re: Anything bitting around Williamstown and Queenscliff???

I was just about to ask the same question, as I am heading out from Altona tomorrow. I guess I’ll throw in one line for the big red and focus on some flatties and pinkies instead. Not sure about every one else, but I have really been struggling to bring anything into the boat these days. I’m used to...

Re: Bunnings Rod Carrier

HOw far are you traveling and how many rods do you have? I use a pair of these that work well for me. https://www.roofracksuperstore.com.au/rhino-multi-purpose-holder-4894/product I was thinking about using something like that however, the thought of covering my rod and reel in dust breaks my heart...

Re: Bunnings Rod Carrier

My dad made one of these in 100mm 40 years ago and I still use it. I wrap the guides in rags to prevent damage, this also lessens the room inside preventing the shaking around Sounds like the way to go. I went Bunnings yesterday to buy all the parts but I can’t find a unbolt long enough. Need to do...

Re: Bunnings Rod Carrier

I think its enough. Wrap the rods with bubble wrap maybe. Do you think they will get damaged if I chuck them in there? I was going to put cushions on the ends so if I slap the breaks they have a soft impact. It's like a shaker in there. They can get knocked around in it. If they're graphite rods, t...

Bunnings Rod Carrier

Hi all!!!! I have a trip coming up and wanted to get the surf rods out of the car and onto the roof racks. I am going to get a 100mm pvc pipe and cut it down to a bit more then 2m. Bunnings has a 100mm lock which I’ll use on both sides incase I need the additional access. Finally a few u bolts to ti...

Re: Boat battery, what’s the difference?

2nd battery is essential. 95% of boat break downs is caused by a flat or failed battery which is super easy to avoid by having a 2nd battery. Marine batteries have thicker lead plates which makes them stronger and less likely to break/crack due to vibration. Certainly worth having a true marine bat...

Re: Boat battery, what’s the difference?

Joker No need for a 2nd battery in the bay.As long as the original one is 3 yrs old or younger thats fine The difference between a cartruck to a marine battery is the plates inside are bigger and wont flake off particles as you go over waves People wont agree with me -But they dont know elect stuff...

Boat battery, what’s the difference?

Hi all - I need to replace my secondary battery in the boat but was looking at using the same battery to run the fridge for camping (which would be a couple of times a year) Is there any reason why I can’t use a normal kings battery in the boat like the one in the link? Or does it have to be a marin...
