Re: baitcaster rod

hahaha nice, looks really good mate. i probably have to skills to make a rod but what tools would i need? It's surprisingly easy to make a rod. You just need a sharp knife for cutting the thread and a rod holding device that doesn't need to be at all fancy! Holder.jpg I used some hot glue to keep t...

Re: baitcaster rod

nice, got any pictures of the rod? Here's some pics. I forgot to mention that I went with a 2 piece rod, it's a lot stiffer through the middle section than a one piece rod. I was so impressed with it I ended up making a spin rod from the same blank, giving me a matched pair for spin and baitcast. I...

Re: baitcaster rod

hey, any one got any good recommendations for a good light 1-3 kilo baitcaster? i will be targeting trout and other fish like them. I was in the same situation a few years ago. I was after a light baitcaster setup for flicking small plastics in skinny waters for Bass...I ended up making my own rod....

Re: crimps

Definitely use crimping pliers. The surface area crimped is most of the crimp itself, whereas using wire cutters-the surface of contact is minimal.
I got mine from Bunnings for about $30 and they are awesome.

Re: Berwick Springs Lake(s) fishing

Get yourself a small, el cheapo paddle yak and fish the smaller lakes...there's heaps of fish in them and easier to hunt down.

Re: Berwick Springs Lake(s) fishing

There's some huge Carp in that system, but hard to fish the main lake. The smaller shallow lakes are more productive I've found.

Re: Had a oopsie with the boat.

Try the Financial Ombudsman Service. I've had a couple of insurance claims on my motorbike knocked back by the insurer, went to the FOS. The result was, the insurer couldn't have been more helpful and paid the full claim.

When I was out last month we pulled into Kalimna jetty area of lakes for a suss.

If there wasn't 500 cobbler in the shallows there I'll eat my hat. Was a nasty little patch.
I was talking to a local guy about it, he was saying the same, they are everywhere at the moment.

Re: Topwater Murray Cod

Great video mate.
My favourite fishing has to be clearwater Cod fishing, watching them race out from their hiding spots and smashing a surface lure. The only Cod fishing that beats it, is wading the skinny clearwater creeks up that way. ;-)
