Re: Fishing blanchetown south Australia???

Well I think it's closed season for cod in SA at the moment so haven't heard much. I do know that a 50lber was caught four years ago in early January down at the cliffs. Saw it with my own eyes and it was massive. My family have been heading there each New Years for the last five years on and off an...

Re: Fishing blanchetown south Australia???

Good fishing on offer at Blanchetown if you explore abit. There's heaps of carp up there ranging from the tiny to double figures. They can be caught anywhere from the bank. Just above the lock there's wetlands/backwaters which had big females last summer taking worms, corn, bread, etc. also they lov...

Re: Beginners combo

Thanks Mazman, I was thinking that the length would have to be shorter due to the creeks I mostly fish in. I think I might try to find one around 8'-8'6".

Re: Reel help please!!

I use a Daiwa Aird 3000 with 20lb braid on my 9 footer for salmon off the beach. Positives are that it has a fair few bearings for smoothness and has a high retrieve ratio for casting metals. Can't go wrong with a Sienna or a Sedona either. Both reels will suffice. Another option is to try and track...

Beginners combo

Hi all, Been reading through all the flyfishing posts on here and have a few questions regarding flyfishing. I'm looking at purchasing a 5/6 weight combo that won't break the budget of around $150 just for the combo and line. I'm looking at targetting trout, redfin and carp on it. My questions start...

Re: Hunt for my first EP

Awesome work there mate! My first EP remains my PB and was my first soft plastic caught fish ever. They sure do go hard when they get a bit bigger and they always say that the first one is always the hardest. Puts paid to your efforts, well done.

Re: Gummy Fishing Combo set ups

I would suggest for the boat combo you'd want an 8-15kg 6-7 foot rod and a solid reel to hold 250m of 30lb line. I'd suggest a Penn Spinfisher 750-950 paired with a penn spinfisher rod. Add in line and it should cost under $150. http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/rod-reel-combo...

Re: new rods and reels for the boat.

Yep I'd go with the Penn Spinfisher or Live Liner for reels as they are pretty much bulletproof. Rods can be anything in the range of 8-15kg for what you're after, can be from brands such as Penn, Abu, Shimano, Daiwa, etc. Solid tip rods or glass tip rods will suit you better as they can be knocked ...
