Ahhh the black spur.... brings back some memories of chasing down some old farts with a deathwish in my MR2 turbo.. what made it worse was they were driving non turbo models and i couldn't keep up with them in my turbo. Yeah, ive seen those red patches after a huge swell a few years back. I thought they were krill. They would occur in large clusters of say 10 to 20 metres in the middle of the open ocean. Red patch could have been krill. the very few times ive been out offshore ive seen them and they look like a purple red in colour. my fish came trolling next to it.

fishies beach mate, ive always seen atleast a few kayaks down there when im going past or fishing the area.you dont need to go far to get into some fish either.
drifiting is mainly what most of them are doing as well.

all those plastics will work well. i think you need to find a different spot. flathead are a lot more abundant in summer. you can still catch them, but they are usually a bit more deeper this time of the year. i would concentrate on the pinkies if i were you. try brighton breakwall at the very end ,...

what plastics are you guys going to use ? and are you setup with the right gear (braided line with a decent amount of leader) with sp fishing you have to predominantly fish areas that hold fish, otherwise your wasting your time.. and for flathead off the beach i would start by using the 1/4oz head (...
