Cod how far up Yarra?

Can anyone tell me about how far up the Yarra Murray Cod are found? I know Warrandyte, guessing Jumping Creek, wondering about Wonga Park. Be interesting to find out the highest up the river anyone has caught one.

Thats not a worm - this is a worm!

Found this while getting bait for Wonga Park session last evening. Longer than any fish I've caught. Session disappointing due to people who turned up and threw sticks into the pool I was fishing in for their dogs to retrieve. Common courtesies have gone. I fish as much for the solitude as for the c...

Wonga Park morning.

Had a couple of hours at Wittons Reserve and caught [and lost] my first carp. Got it into the bank, but it slipped from my grasp and the hook pulled out. Now a couple of things. Firstly, I never knew carp grew that big over here. It must have been about 4 kg. Secondly, I never knew they could put up...

Cheaper tackle

I use cheaper department store tackle all the time. I can't afford the gear they show me in the fishing shops, or advertise as being the best. I'm not even sure if I would if I could afford it. Fishing is a hobby I enjoy as a pensioner. I am looked at askance by some with expensive tackle, but resul...

Re: woori yallock this evening

Well done! As long as something is tugging on the line the rush is still there. I fished above Warby for no fish but did pick up a small flake of gold lol

Disappointing

I have just bought a copy of a popular freshwater fishing magazine on the strength of an advertised article about Melbourne's suburban fishing spots. "At last" was the thought. How disappointed I was to read it and realise it was mostly DPI Guide to Victoria's Angling Waters. re written virtually wo...

Yarra at Warburton

I have fished the Yarra mainly at Wonga Park - Jumping Creek because that is where I believed all the larger fish were. Have I been missing out by avoiding Warby, Wesburn etc.? I thought there were only small trout, redfin and blackfish up there, but after Thursdays outing am beginning to wonder if ...

Warburton today

Spent the day in the sun behind the shops at Warburton. After 2 weeks in hospital it was heaven. Snagged multiple times, and nearly lost my rod to something while eating a pie. Big decision - let go of the pie or let the rod go? 3/4 pie straight into mouth :dinner: But whatever it was took me straig...
