Re: Fav all round rod.

Was thinking about this on Monday. Fav rod by far is my egi Rod. Megabass caiyen cxx78l.

Sits in hand beautifully. Was using it as a lakes lure rod for ages in addition to its use squidding. I reckon I’d use it minimum 3:1 ratio vs any other rod in my rack.

Re: Gaffs in fresh water Pffft

Haha. Who guts out their boat to go fish a session in the fresh? Mates boat had a 150mm flying gaff in in permanently. He takes it up to eildon every now and then...

Re: Budgeting 3k for boat improvements

I towed a bloke from the rip to Queenscliff on Monday. He was fast heading out whilst it was wind against tide and rather nasty swell across the majority of the entrance. Fix ya bloody motor. All it does it **** up your day and anyone else who has to tow you.

Re: Best knot for braid to thick leader (not FG)

As others have said. If you already have the slim beauty in your arsenal the only other knot you need is the FG.

Just set the knot after the first half hitch to fully cinch everything down prior to finishing your half hitches and trimming the leader tag. This stops a lot of issues

Dougie. With the sluggos rip em fast across the surface like Scott said. But do a burn and kill retrieve. The sluggo shoots off at near right angles on the kill.

Re: Wanderer Awnings anyone have one?

Good setup nudeup.

I’ve got a darche awning on my car. Every time I’ve swagged it since getting it I couldn’t get the car near. Until last week on a fishing/hunting trip. Slept under the awning in the swag. Was bloody awesome. Definitely looking into a side wall.

Re: Trellys Daiwa Sale

Daiwa exists were $425. If I had the cash free I would have bought all of them and sold em as brand new in box reels on Facebook for $550each.

Re: Size and power

Pretty much need to know what type of fishing you plan to do out of it. If you’re gonna be bait fishing Wpb the majority of the time I’d suggest a Haines half cab. 470-490sig or a little hunter cabin boat like the 490slc. Forgoes some fishing space. But a bit of room to bunker down out of a weather ...

I prefer the 10-15kg 7’6 tcurve revo offshore for bait fishing. But if you’ve got your heart set on doing other stuff like trolling get the king mack

Re: Quick law check

In Vic it’s lines in the water as stated. In nsw I think it is it’s rigged rods. From memory and don’t quote meyou could only have 2 rods rigged per person on the Murray for example. You could have other rods but couldn’t have lures attached.
