Re: Surf fishing attire

Nice warm jacket. Boardies. Neoprene booties and a pair of seal skins socks is what I wear. Last year bought a pair of Scott lovig pants. Wore them recently for a beach launch session on the boat with the above booties. I reckon they’d be good on the beach if I was determined to go on a bitterly col...

There’s a rather large difference between what’s “fine” and what’s legal though...

Re: Changes to yabby nets

Here’s what will happen. Fisheries will grossly under calculate how many people will want the free nets. They’ll stock a few hundred at each shop. They’ll go in a few days and everyone will be crying to the tackle shop that they aren’t getting their free nets. I’m half tempted to go buy half a dozen...

Swimbait rod?

Ain’t too many moderately priced swimbait rods that I know of. I’m not that well versed in em. But most I’ve seen have been $300+

Re: Nissan X-Trail as a tow vehicle?

I can vouch for my wife’s car, the older model t31 xtrail diesel 4x4 being a great tow rig for my boat which was about 1050kg bmt. It was my tow rig before I bought the pathfinder. It dragged the boat fully loaded with sh*t so roughly 1200kg up to Echuca, to Mallacoota, Paynesville. For multiple tri...

Re: Hiring of fishing and camping gear

If I were you Ricki, I would utilise your boat as a charter. Take 2 or 3 punters for a day at a$120-150 a head not only you in control of your gear, but it would be much more profitable I assume. Your knowledge around WP is excellent. And I imagine people would pay this kind of dollars for a days f...

Re: Variable legal size limits.

Arbitrary size limits are ridiculous and that approach should never be used in any kind of law/regulation making.

Re: Tow vechile

Just get a drop down wheel and keep your car out of the water? I launched at flinders Sunday week ago. Car was 5m from the edge of the water. Could do it further with a bigger beach. Might cost you $300 but means you’re carrying a spare tyre and hub and you can rest assured you aren’t gonna lose yo...
