Looking forward to seeing the deer report when it happens. Shame about the bloody price of fuel though!
Nice catch today. Outdid me.

Re: Melbourne boat show October 20-23 / 2022
I had a morning meeting in port Melbourne on Friday and went afterwards. My intention was to buy a small kill bag. Suss out some stainless work/bait boards and grab a mate a bumbag pfd. But was disappointed to see it was only boat related. I did take a bunch of pics of various bait boards but ultima...

Re: Fish Identity
Hard to tell. But fairly certain it's a Yellowfin goby. Caught a few as bycatch chasing Jews in the metro rivers. Non native species. Apparently arrived via ship ballast water

Re: Portarlington 18th
What time did you get out? Fished st lenno sun/mon/tues and got fish every morning but the bite shut down pretty much as soon as bright light hit the water directly around 8:30am. Sunday and Monday ground it out each day to about 3pm for pretty well stuff all save for every single flathead and Ray i...

How do you clean the gurnard? Got a few of those spiky bois and just casually snipped the line above the hook if it wasn't flatty flickable.
I've heard they are tasty but I don't trust myself to handle them without being stabbed.

You been getting many squid at all? Had a few cracks and absolutely sucked. Had about 4 arrows and 3 Cala for quite a few hours fishing over the few days.

I'll come down that way tomorrow. Was out at just past 4am this morning. We were closer to no5. Between that and west sand (according to navionics. Dunno if locals have a name for it)

Re: Like a busted record
Better than me. Out yesterday and today. St lenno. 16 or so whiting each day between two of us. Bite shut down at 8-8:30 each day. One more day tomorrow before I'm back in Melbourne. See what that brings.

Re: Solar panel trickle charger.
I also bought a retractable hose reel style electrical lead that I've installed above where the boat lives. So I can just pull the lead down to where I need it. Been doing some work on the boat the past few days and it's been golden for running the heat gun/vacuum cleaner etc. Ducky, ALWAYS undo as...
