Re: kayak and dolphins

Yep mate an awesome sight. I've had them around me numerous times while fishing. I've even watched them "shovelling" with their noses as they herd the bait into position to eat them.
The only downside from my experience is it shuts the fishing down for a while until they disappear.

Re: Comfortable pfd

Check out kayaking PFD's. Good ones aren't bulky & have clearance around the arms so you aren't restricted in your movements.

Re: Boating at night

I occasionally fish from my yak solo at night. I have plb (GME MT410G 406 Mhz PLB With GPS) but you can also get the KTI plb. There are ACR & Munroe but they are overseas. Fishing in a yak at night is awesome & especially when the stars are out :-) I was near Elizabeth Island not too long ag...

Re: Missing Kayaker 29/7/17

The reports are conflicted some say no PFd some say they don't know what he had. Ok so they found his yak, but now they say they may never find his body. Sounds like a sick mob hit :-( I keep hoping he bumped his head, has amnesia & will turn up somewhere safely. On the boat licence level, Boat ...

Re: Missing Kayaker 29/7/17

Not good at all, they're scaling back the search.
Apparently it was a 2monks kayak not a "Kobie"/Hobie. They don't know if he had a pfd either, very strange.

Re: My PLB for trout fishing...

I have that PLB on my pfd when I'm out on my yak with VHF Handheld & mobile in waterproof Lanyard. Every now & then I do a self test to make sure it's good :-)

Re: Alvey Reels Australia Closing Down

It's sad to see another Aussie business go down the tubes. Never used an Alvey but heard of them. My Penn Slammers have served me well & I've never felt the need for an Alvey or most other reels. I think they got left behind when everyone jumped on the Chinese cheap cheap wagon. If they'd made s...

Re: What is the purpose of these masks

I've got a winter one with a thicker neck collar & a thinner one for summer. Keeps you warm in winter and in summer keeps UV & flies off you. To stop fogging just put your sunnies over it so it's a tight fit & no dramas. I don't bother with the Loser faces printed on them (Fishos have a ...
