WPB Gummy Session

I haven’t been out for gummies for a few months so late yesterday arvo headed out with a mate. Most the time out we were catching mostly undersized gummies & schoolies. Best bait seemed to be fresh Squid. We both ended up catching a couple of gummies each. A few dropped just next to the yak but all ...

Re: surf rod recomendations

cheers guys, plenty of good options there, another question, what line would you put on it. usually fishing for salmon and possibly gummys in the future I personally wouldn't use braid (and don't on my Surf Rods). My graphite spin rods - Absolutely. I find 20Lb Mono plenty for surf fishing and is m...

Re: Mornington Pier - 9/6/2019

You can chase Gummies in winter too. They do slow down a bit in Winter but still get them.
I only fish WPB for them but there are blokes here who target them in various parts of PPB

Re: Welshpool 8/6

Yeah I reckon I would Bleed it then take the head off at least. If it was too big I'd fillet it keeping the carcass and see what fisheries say. I've never met or seen fisheries ever while fishing (probably too early for them, might disturb their sleep in  Seen Water police a few times but they...

Re: smelly hands

Try some nice cheap Mcleans or Colgate toothpaste (It has some of the same stuff as most soaps).
The toothpaste is abrasive (you can also polish sliver, brass etc with it).
I keep a tube in my fishing kit and also have used it to get oil/grease off my hands too.
Great for tradie jobs too :-D

Re: Heating up this weekend

Ok, maybe not on your own then.
I don’t think mum would be too keen.
Maybe there are some blokes on here who have boats who would be happy if you went with. I guess transport is your issue then.

Re: Gunnamatta beach 8/6/19

If they’re close to shore 28 is fine but often I’m casting further into channels so I tend to go 60gm but I’m using a 9ft Catana

Re: Gunnamatta beach 8/6/19

Yeah, light gear for spinning and keep moving.
I get bored just soaking baits personally & enjoy the buzz of hooking sambos on lures, although off there I prefer going heavier on the lure than 28.

Re: Gunnamatta beach 8/6/19

I don’t bother with baits down there so good on you for giving it a go. Some days baits outfish lures but for sambos I only use lures.
I like the nice shiny ones so when I’m casting into channels I can see if I can land a Quicksilver, Billabong or Hurley ;-)
