Re: Isnt this crap.

545.80 a week would cover food and bills I guess be tough to thrive on. It's a fortnight, not a week and about 60% under the poverty line. It is practically impossible to live off. Anyone with an investment property complaining that centerlink won't pay their mortgage needs to have a good hard look...

Re: Surf rod line class preference

Unless you're sharking or kingfishing there really isn't much need for a 12-20 in VIC. I'm going to the 'that' guy and say 10-15 which is what i do 99% of my surf fishing with, more for casting range than for line class.

Re: COMMENT YOUR BEST LANDBASED FISH

Can't decide.

14kg longtail from the surface on a lure.

Or 10kg kingfish, which was my first proper LBG capture.

Re: Wind

This is salmon weather if you can find some clearish water to cast into. Surf beaches are out, but it woudln't suprise me to hook one anywhere between the patto and portsea.

Plus you'll cast a slug a freaking mile.

The little Nullica Estuary to the south is full of flathead year round.

Re: Gunnamatta - Busier than Bourke Street

Seriously walk past them. Almost everyone fishes there within 500m of the stairs. If you walk towards the Schanck for 10 minutes you'll get a gutter mostly to yourself.

Re: Snap swivels vs knot straight to the lure?

I use a tiny little mustad snap for squidding and a slightly bigger one for salmoning.

Re: Gunnas Sunday 27

Penn allegiance II. 9 footer. This one casts way farther than my other 9 footers. I'm in the market for a 10 footer surf... How do you rate the penn prevails to the Penn allegiance rods ? is one any better than the other ? why did you pick the allegiance ? Don't go 10'. Not ideal for purpose. Carl,...
