Heading out in search of the Tuna and other species from Phillip Island

Hi We will be heading out over this long weekend hoping for a Tuna. I know of alot of reports are out of Barwon Heads to Cape Schank. We will be Phillip Island based so either head out the Western or Eastern Entrance although from all reports the east seems to be quieter than the west. I'll post up ...

Portland and Nelson report

Been reading this site for many years so I thought I'd give a little back with a report and info. Spent a week in Portland with the family. Bit of exploring and fishing. Here's our report for anyone thinking of heading there soon. Spent the first day motoring up the Glenelg in Nelson as far as the P...

Re: Skippies in Lake Victoria

Well done on getting your kid onto some fish. Those Taylor are pretty good eating if bled and iced. They should also get you a good gummy out the front. Good Luck and let us know how you go.

Re: Going to Blanket Bay Campground, Fishing alone for the first time

With a group of inexperienced fishers I'd go to the Wharf at Apollo bay. Try time it so you are there an hour before high tide. There is calamari on the inside and you will get salmon and flatties casting towards the beach. If you just want to catch something, burley with bread crumbs and tuna oil o...

Re: Freshwater casting from Bowrider

I've always fished and dived out of open boats and when I was looking to replace my centre console I had a look at Bowriders. We had a young son at that stage and if I wanted to get out more and get my kid addicted as I was to fishing I needed something with shade, a bit of comfort, fun but still fi...
