Re: Why I love Overheads

My go too reel for surf and around the bay is the Penn Squall 15 running 15 pound Suffix tritanium and a 80 pound shock leader . the Zziplex M4 Evo is a sweet rod and I really liked casting with the 125 gram lead on it though it will handle all of the common sized leads with ease . https://youtu.be/...

Re: Why I love Overheads

The overhead has an advantage of about 10% in maximum distance, there size and weight is generally better though with the newer high end thread lines are bridging this gap well. It takes a little more skill in controlling the reels so that gives you that feeling of being more in control of the cast....

Why I love Overheads

Just love the sound of an overhead unloading when you get a good cast away :water:

Even when you start with a few hassles you quickly forget that when you nail the rest

The good and bad in life

Strange day yesterday , got the sad news that we lost my cousin to cancer and now the family has to deal with the loss in our different ways . For me it was good to get out and have a fish in the night. Taking things very relaxed as I now want to enjoy the times that are available as it can be taken...

First session with the New rod .

The plan after talking with the good lady was straight forward , I would head out late in the evening and fish the low tide change into the morning with the hope of picking up a reasonable snapper. Bait for the session was squid and Pilchards and rigs were pulleys with the Gemini bait clip. The SRE ...

Re: NZ Rainbow

From my understanding it was taken on the outside of the salmon ponds that they have there , some very big fish due to the availability of plenty of food . Fantastic fish and would have been brilliant seeing it coming to the net . :water: :a_goodjob:

Re: Working with new 15' SRE and Daiwa 25QD

Barnsie , I am hitting around 180 meters with the SRE at the moment. When I use my comp gear I average about 240 meters for the longer throws. Level line relates to the competition done in NSW, SA and Western Australia were the cast is done without a shock leader and it is just the main line tied di...

Working with new 15' SRE and Daiwa 25QD

Have been doing a bit of level line casting with the thread lines and braid and just got myself a new 15 foot 3 piece Century SRE from the UK . Imatched this initially with my comp casting threadline but today put my Daiwa Baisia 25QD on it running braid mainline with a 60 pound braid shock leader. ...

Re: Snapper Fishing / Packed Piers

I normally only fish the beaches but it's best if you can do a decent cast. There are plenty of areas that will produce fish but you have to fish them at specific times to get the most from them.
