Re: Beginner gear for fishing Salmon from the surf

Hey mate, Spot on with the prime time of year chasing the aussie salmon. You've got a couple of options here, and I reckon a good combo will serve you perfectly for both lures and bait. That means flicking plastics, light metals with enough grunt to tackle salmon, land-based snapper, etc. You're ide...

Good luck mate 👍🏻
Hope you do alright!
Cheers.
Cheers!
Water was thick like pea soup 1m vis max, managed one 32cm mode in 1m of water but the highlight was a po of dolphins swimming around the kayak jumping and splashing.

Nice report.
Love the glassy water in winter.
Cheers mare and couldn't agree more - sun kept off the chill which was nice.

Re: Clifton Springs 25/05

Great report there Tim! Looks like you managed a great bag of calamari! I went out Sunday and bagged within an hour, nothing huge but decent sized. It’s always a good time when the squid are firing! Sunday looked like good conditions too, although I have found sunny conditions can be hard going for...

Clifton Springs Bag Out Calamari - 26 May 2024

Hey all, Sharing a quick fishing report following yesterday's success bagging out on calamari within the hour. The weather was perfect, with glass out conditions, a light NW breeze, run-in tide and full sun. There was some surface weed around the 2-3m mark, so punched out to 3-4m casting this slow s...

Re: Specialist squid rod for kayak

Hey mate! I can relate as someone who had a like-minded thought process about getting a dedicated shorter EGI rod for the kayak.  My experience: I run a shorter 7'9 Daiwa Emeraldas, and one major thing that I personally didn't think to consider was how the length of the butt relates to the overall p...
