Re: Braid fraying just before leader knot
The FG knot seemed to do the trick, casted for over an hour last night with no problems. Cheers!

Re: Braid fraying just before leader knot
Cheers for the reply’s, I actually bought the rod and reel two weeks ago and had it spooled. I did purchase it from Tackleworld, however they did not have any Finns in the line weight I was looking for and they used something else. I did drop by there today and talked to one of the staff, he thinks ...

Braid fraying just before leader knot
Recently I purchased a light spin rod and 2500 reel to flick hard bodies and plastics for bream. I’m running 10 pound braid (not sure of brand, spooled at a tackle shop) to fluro or mono leader. Now after twenty or thirty casts I notice the braid starts to fray just before the knot joining the leade...

Re: Fishing Patto
Thanks Aaron,
That is exactly the sort of tip I’m looking for. I might head down there tomorrow morning after dropping the little one off at daycare and see if I can get some live bait for tomorrow night.

Re: Fishing Patto
Oh, also has anyone had any luck with using a garfish fillet for bait? If so I may stop at one of the piers tonight and see if I can pull a few out of the water.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Fishing Patto
I’m hopefully putting in 1.5 hours Tuesday to Friday after arvo shift to see if I can land a Mulloway. I have put in quite a few hours over the last month and a half with nothing to show for my efforts, mostly throwing around paddle tail SP’s. I am a little restricted for time during the day with yo...

Re: New Frankston Member
Cheers, The other night after two hours of catching nothing I dropped by Frankston pier (about 12.30am). There were about 25 blokes catching garfish. So the next night feeling frustrated putting in so many hours for nothing I thought I would catch some gars and get some confidence back. Once again, ...

Hi all, I have been reading posts here for a while and thought I’d join. As a youngster my father was a keen fisherman, we used to do trips to the south coast NSW beach and rock fishing and head out in PPB in snapper season. I have great memories of big gummies, boneto, kingfish and of course snappe...
