Snapper and Gummy

Wow, it's been ages. Thanks covid, Rain and what seems to feel like non stop easterly winds. Was finally able to get out front of barwon heads today with my two young fellas and as usual it didn't disappoint. 40m straight out from the bluff we didn't have a great deal of action for about a hour but ...

What a weekend for fishing out of Barwon Heads, yes tons of boats but weather and fishing made up for the inconvenience. Saturday I took my time knowing Ocean Grove boat ramp would be hectic at first light so I waited until 7:30am and put the boat in with no wait at all. I started trolling in 15m of...

Re: Gummy

Great report and even better catch!! What size circle hooks do you usually have on and how do you set up your line? I mostly use size 5/0 with twisted paternoster rig with the 2 branches a minimum of 30cm long and 50cm apart. 60lb tough trace about 2m all up. This set up is my goto out front of bar...

Hello fellow fishos, Went trolling for Tuna and Kingfish out of Barwon Heads yesterday with no luck unfortunately and didn't see much on the sounder either. After a few hours I decided to anchor up (38 18.999S - 144 29.989E) back straight out from the bluff in 36m of water.... with a full moon comi...

Re: Gummy

Great stuff, nice gummies. Reckon it's a bit early for tuna/king? Charters don't start kingfish til Jan or even Feb. I've started this time of year for the past 5 or 6 years as it seems they are definitely around but can be hard to come by. They are in smaller numbers and tend to be mostly rats 50c...

Hi everyone, Good to be on the water today with my 2 sons. Yesterday the squid out of clifton springs was going off on high tide in 2.5m of water on white jigs 3.0/3.5.... 7 in total in under a hour. We got out of barwon heads today at first light and had some major bites and runs off fresh squid ri...
