Re: Victoria’s game fishing heats up over summer

It's been a late start, but the kings are coming on big time this season, could be the best season in a long time!

Re: Snapper is a gateway drug

Depends on your budget. 10-15kg rod with a 6500 size reel will knock over your normal school kings, and tuna. For bigger sharks you want a 15kg setup probably, but again the other rod can do it.

Welshpool Kings

Despite the ordinary weather forecast, I decided Sunday was going to be a fishing day, and coincidentally I got a message from mazman, who was keen to have a crack at the kings and wanted a bit of info. I thought, stuff it, wanna come out on Sunday. Unsurprisingly, he was all too happy to take up th...

Re: Kingfish charter recommendation

Hi all, I've been out to kingfish charters twice in the past. Both were exclusively using jigging techniques. Nothing wrong with that (except you'll feel very tired after 6-8 hours of jigging) but at times, if its not working obviously you gotta change your method! So is there any charter recommend...

Re: First Mako

Well done Scott. How many trips did you do prior and did you have others teach you how to boat them? I've done about 5 half hearted (less than 2 hour) drifts for mako's, and in that time i've raised 3 blue sharks and 2 white sharks, so this was my first mako raised. I have spoken to others about ha...

Re: Kingfish Search 2017

Down off Conran today had hundreds of Metre plus kingfish cruising around on the surface, happy to ignore everything that was thrown at them all day. Lots of follows but only managed to get a few smaller fish 80cm or so to bite. Frustrating day but awesome as well.

Re: First Mako

Hey scotty What did you use for bait and burley? Just had an old squid for bait, and for burly I used a bit of everything from the freezer, including salmon, tuna, slimy, Trevally, pilchards, and mate brought along a big mulloway head. The carcass went in the bag to slowly break down, and the fille...

Re: Favourite Eating Fish And Recipe..

Kingfish:

Sashimi style, raw thin slices with a bit of soy sauce, lemon and wasabi. Caught that day, nothing will beat it I recon.

Or alternatively, in sushi rolls with avacado or cucumber.
