Re: Shimano Sedona Drag fix.
I got one of the tiny Tica reels for trout, am amazed at the quality throughout, I fish 2kg fireline, and it is as smooth as, straight out of the box. As an old school angler, I'm always expecting to need to tune drags, and this is the first I haven't felt could be made better. Can't afford top line...

Re: The Australian Yowie
I'm not sore about Yowies or panthers/big cats, but I have felt, in dense Queensland scrub, both in the North and West, that there has been something watching, that uncomfortable feeling on the back of the neck and general unease seems a throwback to our very old history. I also worked in the New Ca...

Re: Antique fishing rod
I'm not sure of the brand, but I bought myself a split cane rod from Coles in around 1960 to 1962, I was just a 10 - 12 yr. old kid, it was 4piece (I think) and around 12 foot. Broke it trying to lift a snag on its second outing and went back to handlines for around 5 years, got a white Jarvis Walke...

Just one more reason for me to hate pollies and bureaucrats! Thanks for your efforts, Will, surely there is a reward awaiting you, you deserve a lot better deal than you got!

Re: BEACH FISHING FOR TROUT.
It's truly gut-wrenching, just thinking what you and your family have gone, and are going through. I've been watching your vids since they started, and have felt for you without saying it, but must take this chance, thanks for your courage and talent. This fishing obsession needs those like you to s...

Re: Still Using Old Rods??
I've still got and use a couple of rods built on Butterworth blanks from the 70's, a 5128 and a 4108 (I think, can't remember the 4 wrap's length). They've both been cut down to make about 6 foot spinning rods, from the tip, the 5-wrap fishes 6lb, and the 4 wrap under 4lb, it does OK with 1kg braid ...

Re: Favourite Discontinued Lure
Jeez, I just realized how old I must be, I fished a lot with Flopys, great casting, landed with a plop just like a frog, and had a variable bib, would run shallow & push a wake like a frog, or set deep and would dive steeply. I caught sooty grunter, jungle perch, juvenile mangrove jack & barramundi ...

Re: What up with my f..ken hotwater?
I think it's called a "tap reseater", I've been using one and doing washers etc. for 45 years, no idea how much it saves, but with a $95pllus for a call out fee, it must be a sh*t load of dollars, I've just had to start calling tradies for minor jobs, definitely a sudden shock to finances!

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
If it looks like I was criticizing CC, I offer abject apologies, my rant was against the author of the postscript, leaping onto the social "injustice" of the day. Ali is an extremely well educated man, with a strong ideal of social justice, but it really winds me up when commentators leap on the "in...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
First post, Tassie (ex North Qld) fisher. Leftie, Rightie, Yellow, Brown, Red or Bl***, we're (hopefully) all just fishermen (women, persons---- PC -- getting bl**dy ridiculous!) here! I have no idea how we came to have all this divisiveness in our society, I grew up in the 50's, we had all kinds in...
