I will be relocating to the area in 10 months time, and will be looking for trips to join in.
Cant wait.

Re: Deckie needed for marlin fishing at bermagui? Im march
By mid March the Marlin are generally leaving or left Bermagui, it all depends on currents, but Easter tournament was always about the Yellowfin when I fished there.

Re: 494kg Marlin off Exmouth
I am not sure about the bigger ones. But back in mid 80's I used to do a fair bit of Marlin & Tuna fishing out of Bermagui. We had a mid size (120kg) Marlin capture on light line, the fish came to the boat very worn out and would not survive. We decided to boat it and fillet the fish after weigh in ...

Re: Evaporate cooler
Evaporative coolers have many limitations. Because you are asking I am guessing the house is new to you? If so, then previous owners may have turned the water off to the roof (recommended when not in use to save evaporation) So make sure the water is getting to the unit (will have a ball float valve...

Re: Engine options
Hi Boxhead just wondering if you might consider upping the hp a bit from 25 if you are buying a new motor. For a boat that size with 2-3 people on board with gear the 25 would be struggling a bit? Just a thought. For the 45 minutes or so that it was working, the boat felt plenty powerful enough, bu...

Engine options
Hi all, Last month I finally got the chance to put my boat in the water. All was going well until the motor stopped. I really like the boat (15ft fibreglass half cabin) for what my intended purposes are. Current engine is an old (1982) 25hp Mercury 2 stroke. I could get the old motor looked at and f...

Re: Alvey Reels Australia Closing Down
I am no expert, but could they look at downsizing and retraining staff to be multi tasking? I realize that it will mean some lose their jobs, but at least it would keep the company afloat? If they are producing 100 reels a day but only selling 50, then ideally you would slow production down to the 5...

Re: Alvey Reels Australia Closing Down
When you make your stuff so good that it lasts forever, you are limiting potential new sales. I have 3 that are all hand me downs from my Dad, and I don't doubt that he got them second hand. Also a recent fishing shack purchase had 4 cane rods with Alvey reels attached, they are going onto the "ManC...
