Tootgarook and Capel Sound doing well

Hi All, I have been fishing Capel Sound for squid and Tootgarook for whiting and doing really well. On Friday just gone we caught 21 squid and 19 whiting. Looks like winter fishing is alive and well. Hopefully this can be the trend now that there are no more netters in the bay.

A quick session Yesterday

Went out for a quick session on the squid from Tootgarook ramp. Out from about 10:30 thru to 2:30. Only managed 7 small models. Also tried at Hurricane wreck towards end of run in tide with no success. Nice day on the water.

Boat Ramps

Things are hotting up on the boat ramp situation in Victoria. If one of the state govt. parties is smart enough to create a policy regarding proper boat ramp governance and accountability they will win many votes. Have a look at this site headed up by Rex Hunt and co. and register there as well. htt...

Capel Sound puts on a surprise

Went on Saturday July 21. Fishing was so so. Managed 5 squid and 5 keeper flathead. Went with family at gentleman's hours and nature put on a show for us. Going past where we go for squid off capel sound in 25ft of water was several pods of dolphins (50+), 1-2 seals and low and behold 2 humpback wha...

Re: Werribee South Boat ramp - FREE

Here's something interesting. Why don't council not charge anything for the ramp for 12 months ( a first for PPB boat users for 20+ years), then survey obvious business's and other positive impacts that boat fisherman bring to the area...... then see if they want to risk loosing these benefits to th...

Pretty Quiet down Southern End

Have been out 3 times in last fortnight with not much luck. Lost anchor at one spot. So new larger anchor, rope, shackles and longer chain. Some squid and keeper flatheads but very quiet for whiting. Have tried the Sisters at Sorrento, Rosebud reef, Reef off Tootgarook and top of Pinnace Channel. Mo...

Capel Sound (aka West Rosebud) Sun 22/4/18

Out on the water by 6am and drifted for an hour for only 1 squid. Tried Mt Martha deep for about an hour during tide change from incoming to outgoing with no success. Went to top of Pinnance channel and only got one whiting after an hour on pipi and cuttlefish combo. Drifted between mud island and s...

West Rosebud (Capel Sound)

Fished Sat morning 7/4 for only 3 small squid, 1 red mullet and 1 whiting. Tried for snapper at Hurricane wreck for only banjos and rays, several whiting marks for only 1 and even drifted near channel for 1 undersize flathead. Pretty disappointing day. Lovely weather though.
